Trees in the storm

I got to know this kind of semi-abstract paintings with Jack Hamm's fantastic book Drawing Scenery: Landscapes and seascapes. I clearly remember how mesmerized I was by this kind of pictures in the book. The bold black and white shapes with some gradations are very powerful. So I tried to paint something similar in Sketchbook with pastel brushes.
